About Monica

Monica Rourke is the Owner and President of Dry Works, LLC. She has 30 years of experience in waterproofing and chemical grouting for new construction as well as concrete repair. She has worked as a contractor, manufacturer’s representative and as a specification engineer and consultant. Monica concentrates her efforts providing products and support services for tunneling projects, concrete repair, and waterproofing applications along with strategies for stabilization of underground structures.

Monica is a Fellow of ICRI; 2008 Past National President, Connecticut Chapter President for two terms and recipient of the 2022 ICRI President’s Award for outstanding dedication and service to the concrete repair industry. She has co-authored the ICRI Technical Guideline No. 340.1 entitled: “Guide for the Selection of Grouts to Control Water Leakage through Concrete Structures ,”and in 2023 presented the ICRI National Webinar covering this same guideline with updated technical revisions. Monica is currently chair of the 710 Committee Task Group covering a new guideline for Curtain Grouting Techniques and Applications for creating barrier membranes and mitigating water through underground structures.

Monica has been a member of ICRI for 32 years. She was the Chair of ICRI Certification Committee from 2008 to 2016; served for 6 years on the Technical Activities Committee as the liaison point person for the Moisture Testing; Repair Testing Technician Certification and FRP Inspector Certification committees and started the Women in ICRI. Monica served on the ICRI Board of Directors for 11 years and participates as a speaker at national conventions along with presentations at IBEC, Waterproofing Contractors Association, DFI and other industry and trade associations.

Monica also participates at TRB (Transportation Research Board) on the AKB60 Standing Committee on Tunnels and Underground Structures. She presented her paper on Watertight Joints in Tunnels at the TRB Annual Meeting in 1997 which led to a new waterproofing grout hose technology and adoption of a priority specification for all construction joints on the Big Dig Tunnel project in Boston, Massachusetts.

Monica presented her paper on Humboldt Bay Nuclear Paper Plant Caisson in Leakage Repair Project at the Rilem – 2nd International Symposium- on Adhesion between Polymers and Concrete; in 2000 at DFI (Deep Foundations Institute),and in 2018 at ICRI Fall Convention on Seismic Repairs.

Monica Rourke is a member of APWA – American Public Works Association; DFI – Deep Foundations Institute, UC of SEM –Society for Mining, Metallurgy and Explorations, Inc., ACI and is a published member of Who’s Who of International Professionals.
